We host multiple science policy events per quarter to promote discussion within our community. Our speaker events, science cafes, and advocacy workshops seek to inform and engage the public about topical issues and the various factors surrounding them. The Triple Helix at UC Davis and the Davis Astronomy Club are delighted to present an event about the recent Mars voyage! Learn more about the Curiosity rover, what it has found, and UCD’s role in the mission from speakers close to the team!
Professor David Osleger is a distinguished UC Davis Geology Professor who researches energy, ancient sea levels, and ancient and current climate changes; he will discuss what we have learned about Mars and give us a visual survey of the planet.
Amy Williams is a UCD Geology PhD candidate and a member of the Curiosity Rover Science Team at Jet Propulsion Laboratories; she will discuss her work and experience at JPL and what we hope to learn about Mars.

Health Care Panel – Government and Medicine: A compatible mix?
Tuesday, 5/22/12, 6-7pm at Wellman 212
AMSA and The Triple Helix are proud to present a panel discussion on healthcare in our society today with perspectives from speakers in both medicine and law. Dr. Nishijima is an emergency physician and conducts research on how to reduce costs of medicine while Dr. John Troidl is a management consultant for community health centers. Together, they will discuss the implications of the new healthcare mandate set by President Obama and how this will impact medicine as a whole. Join us at Wellman 212 on May 22nd from 6-7pm. Pizza is provided!
